Forgotten Soldiers Outreach
Many of you have been following Prince Harry and the royal wedding. But did you know that Prince Harry has a connection to Forgotten Soldiers Outreach?
On May 10, 2013, Prince Harry visited Arlington National Cemetery. During his visit he paid his respects at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Then he made a personal request to lay a wreath in Section 60 of the cemetery, where servicemen who have died since 2001 are buried. Prince Harry did two tours of duty in Afghanistan and many of these soldiers were there during the same time. Prince Harry placed the wreath at the gravesite of US Army Specialist Michael L Stansbery Jr. Stansbery was killed in action on July 30, 2010 when is his 101st Airborne patrol hit an IED in Kandahar.
Stansbery received care packages from Forgotten Soldiers Outreach and often contacted us with requests for his squad mates. He was always thinking of others and putting their needs above his own. He would request coffee and coffee making supplies even though he did not drink coffee. Stansbery always wanted to be in the army and was the fourth generation to serve.
US Army Specialist Michael L Stansbery Jr is the nephew of Forgotten Soldiers Outreach Executive Director and Founder Lynelle Zelnar.
And now you know.
