Forgotten Soldiers Outreach, Inc. elects Christopher D. McCarthy (USMC Ret) as Chairman of the Board
And Joanne T. Dee as a newly appointed Director
Lake Worth, Florida- At the Forgotten Soldiers Outreach (“FSO”) 2017 Annual Board of Directors Meeting, Christopher D. McCarthy was elected to serve as Forgotten Soldiers Outreach National Chairman the Board. He will take over the helm from Jay Cashmere as Jay continues to serve on the Board as a Director. The 501(c) 3 non-profit has been sending “care packages” to our United States military servicemen and women overseas for more than a decade. To date, FSO has touched the lives of more than 400,000 soldiers since beginning its mission.
Christopher has been a big advocate for FSO since he participated in a corporate packing event through his employer, FPL. He has been a Keynote Speaker at FSO events as well. His military service covers a span of thirteen years which included two tours to Iraq and four to Afghanistan, until he was medically retired as a E6-Staff Sergeant in 2013 due to combat injuries. Christopher is employed by FP&L as a Physical Security Specialist – Corporate Security.
“It’s such an honor to have Christopher serve in this capacity, especially as a recipient who can personally share the importance of receiving ‘We Care’ packages, says Lynelle Chauncey Zelnar, Executive Director and Founder
“I am honored to be a part of this amazing organization and helping to impact the morale with each care package that is sent. As a recipient of many care packages while deployed I know the impact that it has and the connection that a small box can make”, states Christopher McCarthy.
In addition, we welcome our newest Board Member, Joanne T. Dee, who was appointed to fill the vacancy by Bob Nichols. Joanne T. Dee, is the Vice President and Manager at Floridian Community Bank in Wellington, and serves on FSO’s fundraising committee. She joins us with enthusiasm and will be a true asset to Forgotten Soldiers Outreach. Her nephew was an FSO recipient.
“After hearing Lynelle Zelnar speak early in 2016, I immediately wanted to get involved with FSO. My nephew had been a recipient of a care package while deployed in Afghanistan. Knowing the impact the packages have on our soldiers and knowing first hand from my nephew, I wanted to be involved as much as possible. I am happy to be a part of this great organization and truly inspired by the work that all the volunteers do for our soldiers”, says Joanne Dee.
Joanne T. Dee now joins the other standing board members as a Director: National Chairman of the Board, Christopher McCarthy as National Chairman, Chuck Debevec as Vice Chairman, C. Annelies Mouring as Secretary, Art Snow as Treasurer, Major General Wayne P. Jackson Director and WPTV News Anchor Jay Cashmere as Director and Immediate Past Chairman.
FSO is totally funded by private contributions from the public and local companies, and depends solely on donations to insure its mission continues.
